Luz Romkema, PhD

Nutrition is my passion. I did a bachelor´s in Nutrition and Food Science (in Mexico) and a master in Nutrition and Health (here in the Netherlands). The idea of Kennis-Smaken came after my experiences during the last year of my PhD, when my son was born. I could see how difficult it was for other mothers (particularly expat mothers) to find good, trustworthy nutrition knowledge. I wanted to change that! I realized that my experience in nutrition, food sensory science (the study of the perception of food), eating and consumer behavior as well as my previous work with children gave me a particular advantage when it came to my son´s introduction to foods. I decided I wanted to share that knowledge with all parents and caregivers that want to be empowered in the topic of child nutrition.
